A Honeymoon Built for Two
by: Susie Freeman Travel
Organising a wedding is a very exciting (and sometimes exhausting) business, so when it comes to planning your honeymoon, the last thing you want is to spend time worrying about whether everything will be just as you want it. Having dedicated close to 20 years delivering my clients’ vision of their perfect holidays and honeymoons, here are my top tips:
Amore or all action? Or both?
Two weeks on a beach can be heavenly, but if one of you is looking for a little adventure alongside intimate dinners à deux, then consider selecting a resort that offers a combination of the two. The Dinarobin Hotel & Golf Spa in Mauritius is an excellent example of this – kite surf in the morning, spend the afternoon in the Spa by Clarins, then dine under the stars.
Make a wish list
You will have shown great vision in planning your wedding day – do the same for your honeymoon. Put budget aside for a moment and write down every experience that you would love to have, no matter how indulgent it might sound. You would be amazed what can be achieved if you only ask, and if your guests are stuck for something to buy you, well now you have a list!
Ask your guests to upgrade you
With many couples marrying once they have made a home together, the ‘gift list’ has become somewhat outdated. If you feel uncomfortable asking for cash contributions, how about requesting that your guests buy you an experience? Luxury airport transfers, supper under the stars, and couples spa treatments definitely beat being given a toaster!
Get expert advice
Few people book a holiday now without consulting TripAdvisor but this is your honeymoon we’re talking about. If you know the type of honeymoon that you’re seeking, then save yourself hours of reading about other people’s holiday heaven (or hell…) by speaking to a luxury travel advisor. If they’re worth their salt they will be able to recommend precisely the right resort and give you the benefit of their local connections to deliver on your dream.
