A Bohemian English Wedding
British couturier Giles Deacon – the designer behind Pippa Middleton’s globally applauded and wonderfully elegant wedding gown – joined Brides The Show to unveil his dedicated couture exhibition.
Visitors could step into his magical presentation of the perfect wedding party, a gorgeously bohemian English wedding day and a celebration of accessible eccentricity for the bride, her mother, her maids and her wedding guests.
'When designing a couture bridal gown, I always look for it to deliver a shared vision of myself and the client’s desires, a sense of uniqueness and timelessness and a bride who is totally at ease with it, so she can concentrate on having the most wonderful day,' said Giles. 'In that sense, a wedding is the perfect occasion to consider a couture dress. It may be a once-in-a- lifetime purchase, but it comes with the knowledge that it has been made for you with craftsmanship and consideration that is second to none.'
Visitoors were able to come and listen to Giles and Editor Jade Beer in conversation on Friday night as they discussed what goes into the making of a special bespoke gown, and gain an exclusive insight into how this great designer works. Then they could chat to Giles themselves as we invited them to join us at an intimate drinks party in the exhibition space.
Brides The Show Giles Deacon Exhibition was in association with Cliveden House
Once guests took inspiration from the exclusive Giles Deacon couture exhibition, next on the list was the location for the big day. As quintessentially English garden party venues go, you won’t find better than the iconic Cliveden House. Set in glorious National Trust parkland in beautiful Berkshire (just 40 minutes from London) this Grade I listed stately home is the stuff wedding dreams are made of. Think giant sweeping driveway as your entrance, a 350 year old Great Hall for your ceremony and the French Dining Room with its gold-gilded furniture for a reception. Already nailed your venue? Then this grande dame should shoot straight to the top of your mini-moon wish-list. In fact, it recently won Best UK hotel at the Conde Nast Traveller Readers’ Travel Awards 2017. We can see why...
